Harrisburg, Pennsylvania—The HACC Athletics Department announced on March 1, 2015 they would start looking for someone to fill the head coaching position for the men’s basketball team. The department is searching for a head coach to replace former head coach John Murphy who resigned after two seasons.
“What I’m looking for in a coach is someone who is first a mentor and a teacher who can build relationships while enforcing discipline if necessary” said Lisa Cleveland, Harrisburg Area Community College Athletics Director. “There’s expectations that need to be put forth on the court as well as in class by a new coach.”
The department says there is much to consider when trying to fill such an important position in leadership. “We need someone who knows what to do in tight game situations” said J.C. Brandt, sophomore point guard. “It takes a lot to lead a team of mostly freshman to a winning season.”
The athletics department is looking for the new head coach to have the right attitude coming in. The men’s basketball team has had four head coaches in the last six seasons having a combined record of 31-68 with one playoff appearance. No former coaches of the men’s basketball team could be reached for comments.
